Taking walks, taking pictures, making a mess, and drinking coffee

Hello, my bucket list, friends! January seemed to go by pretty fast, but here we are in February, and it seems to be dragging slowly by at times. It’s probably partly due to the cold. I’m a summer girl. I’m not a huge fan of the cold and having to bundle up. Don’t get me wrong. This is an important season, but I would rather have sunshine and flipflops. I’m looking forward to the summer, and I hope time starts to pick up a bit and then slows down again when the summertime gets here. I have big plans for the summer so I have to stop my spending for a while to save up and that is already frustrating me. Anyways I should probably stop ranting and get on with the post. I started this post so I could write about what I did yesterday. I had the day off yesterday, and I stayed home for most of the day. I posted an article on Vocal Media. ( You can read it HERE ) I was also watching my neighbor’s dog, so we went on a walk. On our walk, I took a bunch of photos, including one of a deer. It is not a very good picture because the deer was kind of faraway, but I’m happy I got to see it. Walks are good for my health, so I was kind of glad that the dog made me get out and walk. Later on in the day, I got a craft kit from my room and brought it up to the table. It was a craft kit where you put colorful gems on plastic figures. I ended up getting frustrated with how hard it was to put the gemstones on that I just ended up dumping the gems on the plastic figure that I had chosen. It made a big mess, but I’m ok with how the project turned out, but I won’t be buying any more kits like this in the future. The highlight of yesterday was going to Starbucks. After Starbucks, I went on another walk. It was an okay day overall, and I’m glad I learned more about what kinds of craft kits not to buy!

The not so great things that have happened so far this year

Hello, my bucket list, friends! I know I usually keep a happy tone on this blog, but every now and them, I need to rant about the things that have been stressing me out, and this is one of those times. When 2022 turned into 2023, I was and still am very optimistic about the year ahead. However, we all know that life is not all cupcakes and roses. Pretty early on in 2023, I got the news that the store I had been working at since October was going to be closing. Back in October, I made the choice to leave the field of childcare due to my stress level also I was wanting to pursue other careers. I was happy when I got hired at the health food store (Urban Remedy), and I have really enjoyed my time working there. I was upset when I found out the store was closing because it meant that I had to leave a great job it also meant that I had to go back on the job hunt again. I hate going on interviews it makes me nervous. However, I’m happy to say I got a job that I’m excited about, but it was a long road to get there. The other not so great thing that happened to me was somehow I ended up getting pink eye! Not only is pink eye unpleasant, but it also caused me to miss a day of work. When the infection cleared up, I was ready to go back to work the next day. However, due to a power outage, that was not possible. I’m happy to say that things are looking up now. I’m excited to start my new job and see what adventures are waiting for me!

Rainy days with spots of sun

Hello, my bucket list, friends! As some of you may know, I’m a lifelong resident of the state of California. A state that is known for its beautiful sunny weather. Well, lately, it was not living up to that reputation. It has been a very rainy 2023 for California. Don’t get me wrong, we need the rain. California has had a problem with not getting enough rain, so rain is a good thing. However, the amount of rain we have been getting lately has been causing some serious problems all over the state. These problems include mudslides, power outages, flooding, and road closures. It has been a little scary, but so far, the worst things I’ve experienced with this storm are some pot holes and a power outage. Even with all the rain, there have been some bright moments this year, and I thought it would be fun to write a blog post about them, so let’s get to it.

My Spots of sunshine during the rain

Animal friends – I have gotten to spend time with some of my favorite animal friends lately. Including dogs and ponies! I’ll post some very cute  posts of my animal friends in this blog post. Enjoy the cuteness!

Fun shopping finds – I’ve gotten some fun things on my trips to the grocery stores. My favorite things that I have gotten lately are a basketball kinder egg, a very cute Valentine’s Day bear Pez dispenser, and a tin of mints from Trader Joes.

Lisa Frank art kit – I had a great time making a kaleidoscope with a vintage Lisa Frank art kit ( You can read about it HERE )

New pen and notebook – On a quick trip to Office Depot, I got a new pen and notebook. They are both blue, and I’m excited to use them both this year.

Lots of coffee – I’ve gotten to go to Starbucks a lot so far this year. It is my favorite place to get coffee, and it is the perfect thing to bring my comfort on a rainy day.

Going on walks during the rain breaks – I’m happy to say that there have been plenty of breaks in the rainfall. During those breaks, one of the best things you can do is it go for a walk. I’ve gotten to go on a good amount of walks lately, and I’ve enjoyed them except for getting some water in my shoes!

Thank you for reading about the bright spots during the rainy days!

One weekend two years

Hello, my bucket list, friends! This is one of those what I did on my weekend posts, but  this weekend is a little different. Due to January first being on Sunday, this weekend was split into two years, which is kind of fun if you think about it. Since I did something fun on Friday, I decided to include Friday in my weekend post. Without any more introduction, let’s get this post started!

Friday – On Friday the 30th, I had work, but of course, before work, I went to Starbucks to get my before work coffee. Then, it was time to work. Work went well, and I was excited when my shift was over because after work, I was going to the Dollar Tree! I had not been to the Dollar Tree recently, so I was excited to shop at one of my favorite stores. The main purpose of my trip was to get some things for my friends’ Christmas gift. Of course, I also wanted to see what fun things I could find for myself as well. I was very happy with the items that I found for myself and for my friend. Some of the items I got for myself included two Disney bracelet kits, a Barbie activity pack, a wooden craft kit, and a hair bow. This quick shopping trip was a good way to start my weekend.

Saturday –  Saturday was the last day of 2022, and I had some plans to end the year with some fun! One of the most fun things you can do at any time of the year is to have a sleepover with your friend! It can be hard to find time to spend with your friends so it was really special that my friend and I were both available for a two night sleepover. The fun started when I met my friend at Target. We wanted to get snacks for our New Year’s celebration. Target is one of my favorite stores, so I was excited to see what fun things I could get  in addition to snacks for our sleepover. I was happy to see the selection of Valentine’s Day items that they had already. I got some fun Valentine’s Day items, including heart-shaped hair clips, a duck toy that says love on it, a heart-shaped Slinky, and a Valentine’s themed Pez dispenser I also got a cute plush cat that has a clip on it. I may put it on my purse. This Target has a Starbucks inside of it, so we stopped there and got coffee on the way out. When we got to my friends house we decided to go on a walk while there was a break in the rain. It had been raining pretty hard that day .Our walk went well but it started raining again. The rest of the day was relaxing. we watched TV, had dinner and snacks, and we stayed awake past midnight. It was a lot of fun to welcome in the new year with my wonderful friend by my side. I was very happy with how I ended 2022 and started 2023!

Sunday – We got off to a great start on Sunday by going to breakfast and then church. After a great church service, we went to Starbucks. Then it was time to make some food deliveries so we could start off the new year with a little extra money. We also went to two parks during the day. I had fun on the playgrounds even though I fell down after jumping off of one of the pieces of play equipment. My friend got that moment on video, and I posted it on my Instagram. ( My username is summerrockstar if you want to see it) We also went to the Dollar Tree. I got a few things at the Dollar Tree, and those things that I got are socks, two surprise packs that have five toys in each pack, and a package of  highlighters. speaking of high lights, we also got sandwiches. Then we had a relaxing night. It was a really great weekend!

Thank you for reading and Happy new year!
