Summer shopping adventure 2020

Hello,my bucket list friends! On Friday and Saturday I went shopping to some of my favorite places. Without delay let’s start with Friday. On Friday I went to a large Dollar Tree store. This location is one of my favorites. I found a lot of items when it came to arts and crafts including a wooden elephant, beads, crayons, stickers ,a My Little Pony art kit and more. Some of my other favorite finds from the Dollar Tree were a pair of palm tree flip flops, some blind bag toys, and a flower pen. The next day I went shopping at the mall. I went to a few different stores including Claire’s and Old Navy. At Claire’s I was able find some items on sale that I liked such as a set of three heart earrings and a set of two necklaces. I also got a new hair bow even though it was not on sale. Some other highlights from my mall trip include a pair of watermelon flip flops from Old Navy , a Crayola coloring book from Target and hair brush from Daiso. I ended my Shopping adventure with coffee and a soft pretzel from the food court! I hope all of you had a great weekend !

pottery and popcorn

Hello, my bucket list friends ! Summer has been both busy and fun this year and there is so much more to come! Before I get too far behind on my blog posts I wanted to tell you about what I did on Thursday.Ā  I went out to run some errands with my dad and while we were in the car I got a phone call I had been waiting for. Back in March my mom and I went to my favorite paint your own pottery place. ( You can read about it HERE ) The day we went was also the day they closed but they let us stay to finish painting. Recently they reopened and Thursday was the day that our art was ready to pick up! I was so excited to finally bring my art pieces home! After I picked up our art my dad and I went to Trader Joe’s where I got one of my favorite snacks pickle flavored popcorn! I only see it at Trader Joe’s during the summer. If you like pickles I highly recommend it! I’m just gonna end this post by saying yay for art and popcorn !

On Saturday My family celebrated father’s day a day early, with a Wonderful dinner at a pretty fancy restaurant called the Crow’s nest. The food was really good. Especially the cheese cake.Ā  After our dinner I went to my friend’s house. We watched Alexa and Katie one of our favorite shows until it wasĀ  hard to stay awake! The next day we went for a walk on the beach , finished the latest season of Alexa and Katie, and went to the mall. For the first time in a while I went to Claire’s . They had a lot of really great items on clearance including a set of hair bows! After Claire’s we went and took some pictures in a photo booth and after that we went to Chili’s for lunch. I just have to say that their veggie burgers are amazing! After we walked around for a bit we got some frozen yogurt to go. Then before I knew it we were on the way to my house. The day had gone by so fast. It was a really great summer weekend ! Rock On – Christina Epperly

Book club discussion June 2020

Hello,my bucket list friends! Now is the time to discuss June’s book for the Light Heart book club. This month’s book is Genie wishes by Elisabeth Dahl. There is just one more thing to say before before we dive in to this month’s discussion and activities. The following post contains major plot points ( Spoilers ) for the book . If you want to read the book and haven’t yet, I suggest you wait to read this post until you have finished the book. Now, let’s dive into our discussion.

Book club discussion June 2020

My favorite part – My absolute favorite part of this book wasn’t just one part it was reading all of Genie’s blog posts. Her posts are scattered throughout the book. I really enjoyed reading them. I wish she was a real blogger so I could subscribe to her posts.

My least favorite part – My least favorite part was watching as Genie and her best friend Sarah slowly grew apart. Now, this is something that often happens in life especially at this age but it’s its still sad. I liked that it was written as happening slowly and naturally instead of being dramatic.

Other things I enjoyed about the book – I liked Genie’s school it was a private school. It’s seemed like a fun school to go to. I wan’t a fan of school as a kid but I wonder if I would have enjoyed going to this school. It sounded like they got good food everyday and I know I would have enjoyed that. I also know that I would have loved junk food lunch! I also liked how Genie was very creative when it came to her Halloween costume. I would never thought to be a house for Halloween!Ā  One more thing I liked was how Genie and Sophie’s friendship developed.

Overall view of the book – I really enjoyed reading Genie’s story. It’s seemed at times that I was reading about a real 5th grader and her class. The book flowed really nicely and it was easy to read. I would highly recommend reading this book.

Activities

Dream journal – Genie and her class are given an assignment to keep dream journals for a week and to record their dreams for at least four nights. I tried keeping a dream journal once but I didn’t stick with it. I don’t remember most of my dreams but if you haven’t tried doing a dream journal before it might be a fun thing to try.

Wishes –Ā  At the end of her blog posts Genie made a wish that went a long with the content of that post. In total she made 22 wishes in the book. I thought it would be fun to make 22 wishes of my own . Feel free to write your own wishes in the comments.

  1. Ā That one day I won’t have to worry about money
  2. Ā To Own my own house before I turn 40

The missing money mystery

Hello, my bucket list friends!Ā  I’ve been into mysteries a lot lately. I just finished reading an American Girl mystery book and then I started another one. Also I have been watching a lot of Murder She Wrote reruns. Yesterday I ended up staring in my own mystery and I thought it would be fun to share it with all of you so here we go!

The missing money mystery

My mystery first started when I picked up my mobile order at Starbucks. When I was walking back to the car with my coffee in my hand I notice that the money that I knew I had in my pocket was not there. In a panic I looked everywhere ! In all my pockets ,in the car and in my purse. when I couldn’t find itĀ  I called my dad and asked him to look around the house . He couldn’t find it either . I even went back to the store that I had been in beforeĀ  Starbucks and it wasn’t there either. In all of my story telling I haven’tĀ  mentioned that it was $60.00 that I was missing. I’m mean it’s not like a million dollars but it’s still upsetting to loose. On the way home I still had some hope that it may be outside around the house somewhere . When I got out of that car I started looking right away and guess what? Right on the road in front of the driveway was my money! I was so happy that I had found it ! The money had fallen out of my back pocket and on the the road when I was going to the car. Mystery solved ! The big lesson in all of this is don’t put money in your back pocket ! This mystery had a happy ending but I hope from now on the Mysteries stay on TV and in books.

Three craft kits one day !

Hello, my bucket list friends! I’m very excited to announce that yesterday I crossed another item off my bucket list. The item that I crossed off is #228 do three Melissa and Doug craft kits in one day!Ā  I’m exited to tell you more about my crafting adventure so let’s get to it!

Three craft kits one day !

For this bucket list item I ordered three Melissa and Doug craft kits from Amazon. I wanted the kits to be different from each other so I chose a decoupage cat, a wooden race car kit and a sand art kit. The first kit I opened was the decoupage cat. This kit came with a cardboard cat figure, stickers, glue and some items to decorate the cat with one the glue was dry. The first step for this project was to cover the cat with the stickers. The stickers came in a bunch of different styles. I really liked the dot stickers. Once the stickers were covering the cat it was time to cover the cat in the sparkly glue. When I was reading the instructions I noticed that it would take a few hours for the glue to dry. I’m glad I started with this kit first. The next kit I opened was the wooden race car craft. The first step was to put the wheels on the car. The kit came with glue to use for the wheels but when I snapped the wheels in to place they stayed on so I decided to skip the gluing part. Then it was time to paint the car. I used the yellow and blue paints for my car but there are other colors in this kit. The next step was to put on the stickers that came in the kit but I had to let the paint dry first so I moved on to the sand art kit. This kit came with three bottles of different shapes ,lots of colorful sands , corks to close up the bottles and other tools. I found this craft kit to be the most relaxing . There is something soothing about pouring sand in to bottles. I was happy with the way all three bottles of sand turned out but the rectangle one is my favorite. After the sand craft I put some stickers on my race car. Later that night I finished the cat craft by adding the eye stickers and the ribbon.Ā  I enjoyed my little craft kit adventure. I wonder what craft kit I’ll do next !

Yesterday’s Goodwill trip

Hello,my bucket list friends! As you can tell from this post’s title I went shopping at the Goodwill yesterday. It’s no secret that I love thrift shopping and I get pretty excited whenever I go so without further delay let’s dive into yesterday’s shopping trip.

Yesterday’s Goodwill trip

I’m going to start this off by saying that I got an unopened Melissa and Doug craft kit! It was my favorite find of the trip but it was not the only Melissa and Doug item that I bought yesterday ,I also got a Melissa and Doug bead kit. As far as arts and crafts go in addition to my Melissa and Doug finds I got a Crayola craft kit as well. One of my main reasons for this shopping trip was to find a book for next month’s book club. I got a few books and I’m still deciding which book I want to read for my book club. Thrift stores are great places to find books because they usually have pretty low prices. I also got some new jeans and a shirt. It was a very successful thrift shopping trip.

Mystery spot and the boardwalk

Hello,my bucket list friends! Summer is the perfect time of year for local adventures especially if you live in California. Yesterday I went on two local adventures including one place that I’ve never been before. It was a fun day and I can’t wait to tell you more so let’s get to it !

Mystery spot and the boardwalk

The first fun place I went to yesterday was the mystery spot in Santa Cruz. I have wanted to go there for a while. I would always see cars with Mystery spot bumper stickers and I was curious to see what what it was all about. Well it turns out that the Mystery Spot is famous for being a gravitational anomaly . The Mystery spot opened in 1940 and from what I can tell it is still going strong. The was one part of the tour that made me dizzy but I got some great pictures so it was worth it to me. At the end of the tour we all got the famous Mystery Spot bumper stickers! After that adventure my mom and I headed to a place that we had been to before the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. There wasn’t much open at the boardwalk yet but we were able to get ice cream and take a little walk on the beach. It was a fun little day trip and I hope the boardwalk opens it’s rides soon!

Wooden flip flop art

Hello, my bucket list friends! The last time I went to the Dollar Tree I got this wooden flip decoration art kit. It’s a very simple kit where you just use the little markers that come with the kit to color the wooden flip flip picture. I found the overall design of the flip flops to be very cute. I especially love the little seashell detail on the flip flops. The markers that came with the kit worked well to color the wooden picture. When I was done coloringĀ  the main parts of the the flip flops I decided to make a bunch of little marks in different colors to give the flip flops a look that was both colorful and fun! I enjoyed this simple summer craft kit .

Books and mini golf

Hello, my bucket list friends ! I hope you are all enjoying the summertime. On Saturday I got to do two fun activities and I can’t wait to tell you more about it so here we go!

Books and mini golf

Saturday’s first fun activity was going shopping at my favorite used book store. I got two American girl books to add to my collection. After the book store I went to Starbucks. I had a good time at the book store and going to get coffee and that eveningĀ  I had scheduled a fun family activity. I had reserved a time slot for my parents and I at a mini golf course. I had been to this mini golf course before and I knew it was a lot of fun. I was happy that we played on my favorite side of the course. Now, I’m not very good at golf but I have a fun time playing it. We started out keeping score but after a bit we stopped keeping score and just played for fun. We all had a really good time and I hope we can go play the other side of the course soon.
