Hello, my bucket list, friends! I’m excited to write this post because I finally finished reading my first book of the year. The book I read was Meet Isabell and Nikki it is an American Girl book that takes place in 1999. One thing I really liked about the book was that I grew up during the 1990s, and I was nine years old in 1999, and reading this book brought back some good memories. I rated it 5/5 on Goodreads. I highly recommend reading this book!
Hello, my bucket list, friends! I’ve already mentioned that I crossed read 50 books in a year off of my bucket list . However, I wanted to highlight this item in its own post. I started working on this item at the beginning of last year, but as it got closer to the end of the year, I realized I needed to really focus on it if I wanted to cross it off. I bought a bunch of short children’s books to help me with this goal. I’m happy to say that I was able to read enough books to cross this item off of my list! I always feel a sense of accomplishment when I cross an item of my list, and this item was no different . It was a good item to end the year with. I’ve already started working on reading a hundred books, so I can cross it off this year. What books do you plan on reading this year?
Hello,my bucket list friends! I know it may seem like it but I have not forgotten about the Light Heart bookclub. I’ve just gotten really behind. However I’m caught up now I even have done June’s book. From now on I decided to make things a little simpler. I’m not going to be including an activity with my book discussions anymore. However I will still be discussing a book each month. I’m going to be doing reviews of a three books in this post so I can get caught up.As always there is just one more thing. The following post contains major plot points ( Spoilers ) for the book . If you want to read the book and haven’t yet, I suggest you wait to read this post until you have finished the book. Now, let’s get into our discussions!
My secret guide to Paris by Lisa Schroeder I enjoyed reading this adventure filled book. Even though it was a major part of the book I wish that Nora’s grandmother would not have died. I personally feel like the story could have been told with her grandmother still alive. However that being said I did enjoy reading about Nora going on her epic scavenger hunt. I liked how Nora made a new friend on her trip. I also enjoyed seeing Nora and her mother grow closer.I would recommend this book Even though the subject matter is a little heavier then the books I usually read for this bookclub.
Real Beauty: 101 Ways to Feel Great about You by Therese Kauchak and Carol yoshizumi – This book from the American Girl library is a self help style book that is written for girls. However this book contains information that is valuable to any age. We all need a self confidence boost every now and then and this book may help you get one.
Hello Utah by Martha Day Zschock – I got this book at a gift shop in Utah. It is a children’s book for young children but it’s so cute, fun and light hearted. The pictures in this book are are so fun to look at. I couldn’t think of a better book for this month. This book is a very fun and very short read. I highly recommend this book.
Hello, my bucket list friends! My bookclub posts seem to be getting later and later and this month is no different. Now it is finally time to announce May’s book club book! This month’s book is Real Beauty 101 ways to feel great about you by Therese Kauchak. This is a different kind of book than what I would normally pick for the light-heart book club. This is more of a self-help book however so far I’ve really enjoyed reading it and I think it’s going to be really great to discuss it on this blog. I can’t wait to finish reading it and discuss it with all of you.
Hello, my bucket list friends! I am very happy to say that I finally finished March’s book club book. Our book for March was the chocolate rose by Helen Perelman. This book is part of the candy fairies series. I have enjoyed reading these books a lot. I can’t wait to discuss it with you. As always there is just one more thing. The following post contains major plot points ( Spoilers ) for the book . If you want to read the book and haven’t yet, I suggest you wait to read this post until you have finished the book. Now, let’s get into our discussion!
My favorite part of the book – there was a lot of great parts in this book including a singing unicorn. But my favorite part of the book has to be when Cocoa’s cousin mocha surprises her with a visit while she was in her garden. Not only does she visit her but she gives her encouragement about her garden. I loved reading this happiness-filled part of the book.
My lest favorite part of the book – My least favorite part of the book is when the stage was destroyed. The fairies had worked so hard to build it and it was sad to see all their hard work ruined. However I was happy to see how it all worked out in the end.
Activities – in this book Cocoa Make some beautiful paintings. That end up being used as decoration for the new talent show stage. So I thought the perfect activity to to go along with this book would be to make some paintings of my own. The first painting I did was a candy inspired flower. In the book Cocoa grows a chocolate rose in her garden. I like chocolate but my favorite candy is probably hard candies and lollipops so I made a hard candy inspired flower. For my second drawing I drew some more flowers with clouds over them raining colorful rain. I have a lot of fun doing this activity hopefully I read more books that have painting in them.
